SCHOOL TOURS


LIVING HISTORY PROGRAMME

- School grades: Elementary (Grade 4, 5 or 6), Secondary
- Number: 28 students maximum
- Tuesday and 2th and 4th Thurday of each month, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Fees: $7 per student (including taxes)

An all-day, hands-on visit in the 18th century. Guides in costume lead baking activities in the kitchen, cloth making, fur trading, and exploration of Ameridian traditions. A guided tour to the Museum illustrating the changes in New France over the centuries: before the arrival of the Europeans, cultural exchanges between Amerindians and Europeans, the heroes of the new colony, Montréal in the 19th century.

During their visit, the children
- prepare, cook and eat a sourdough bread
- try to blow out a storm lantern
- start making a "ceinture fléchée"
- learn how to card wool
- write with a quill pen
- practise paddle strokes to a voyageur canoe song
- earn how to carry an Amerindian cradleboard
- work an Amerindian fire drill and try to grind corn

FRENCH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (IN FRENCH)

Conscious of participating in the integration of immigrants into the sociocultural life of Quebec, the Chateau Ramezay Museum has come up with a new activities program, designed especially for FSL groups.
