Animation in the Garden

All summer long, enter the garden and immerse yourself in the horticultural world of the 18th century.

On your own, at your own pace and completely free of charge, explore the vegetable garden, the ornamental garden and the orchard.

The Friends of the Garden await you on summer afternoons between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to help you discover our splendid oasis. Can you recognize the medicinal herbs that grow in our garden? Where are the pear trees? And the artichoke plants? They will answer your questions and reveal their favorite historical vegetable garden anecdotes if you have a little time. And for families, they have games and challenges to offer.

The presence of our volunteers varies depending on the weather and their availability, but at all times, enjoy our audio tour in 6 languages and the self-guided tour booklet available in the Garden.

Anciennes troupes Militaires de Montréal

Stay tuned for more information for Summer 2026!

At the time of Claude de Ramezay, Montreal was a military city. For the summer period, the Anciennes troupes militaires de Montréal are bringing back to life the Compagnies franches de la Marine and the 78th Fraser Highlanders.

Meet them at the Château Ramezay, attend the military demonstrations and take a few pictures with them!

Wanted: Passionate volunteers

Me, a volunteer guide?

Of course! No need to be a historian or bilingual. All you need is to be comfortable with others, enjoy learning, want to share your knowledge with different types of audiences and be available a few hours a week. If you also have an interest in the history of Quebec, of Montreal, then you will be a great recruit! Detailed training is offered. Paired with experienced guides, you will learn the inner workings of our tours and activities and will pick up, at your own pace, the pleasure of guiding.

Take the risk

Becoming a volunteer at the Château also means taking the risk… of making new friends! Volunteer guides are grouped under two associations: French-speaking guides and English-speaking guides. In total, these associations have nearly a hundred members. Each organizes continuing education, outings and various events throughout the year. Some volunteers have been involved at the Château for over 25 years.

I want to learn more about the Château volunteers!
